Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated, multi-disciplined, and experienced Access Control Service Engineer to join Hutchison Technologies. The successful candidate will take pride in supporting our customers and delivering a first-class service. This role involves working remotely as a Technical Access Control Engineer, attending customer sites to resolve system faults and carry out maintenance works to the highest standards of technical excellence, compliance, and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Attending client sites and resolving issues in a timely and neat manner.
  • Using problem solving skills to find faults and consistently provide high standard solutions.
  • Deliver clear and informative end user training to facilitate the smooth operation of the equipment.
  • Accurately completing job reports and explaining the steps taken before a sign-off by the client.
  • Communicate and build relationships with clients.
  • Identifying sales opportunities with existing clients and feeding back to Line Manager
  • Conducting and recording site surveys to a high standard.
  • Maintaining standards of technical excellence within the team.
  • Occasional working on construction sites where required to support system commissioning
  • Ongoing technical development
  • Provide the customer with an excellent customer service whilst representing Hutchi
  • Accountable for delivering high quality Service fixes for our customers
  • Communicate and build relationships with clients
  • Always striving to build client trust in the engineer, and the company’s abilities
  • Being personally responsible for mistakes and learning from these to improve and develop skills

  • Demonstrating flexibility to business needs when required

  • Follow health and safety compliance on site
  • Adhere to company quality standards at all time
  • Be financially aware of company costs relating to Service.
  • Accurately log all time and parts used against a job to be invoiced.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable and significant experience working in a comparable Access Control Engineer role
  • Strong demonstrable experience gained in an Access Control engineering type role such as Turnstiles, Car Park Barriers, DDA Swing Gates, Fast/Speed Lanes and access control door hardware and controls
  • Knowledge and understanding of working on a range of equipment from manufacturers such as Gunnebo, Automatic Systems, ITAB, Ozak, Parking Facilities
  • Knowledge and understanding working in service and technology fields such as, CCTV, data networks, and automation controls
  • Demonstrable appetite for continuous technical development to attain the breadth of skills of the Hutchi Service Engineer
  • A technical mind-set to logically assess an issue to pinpoint the fault
  • Previous experience of using problem solving skills to find faults and provide high quality solutions
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to the issue at hand
  • Able to read and understand Access Control system schematics and drawings
  • Able to terminate cables to industry standard
  • Understand PC based IP networks
  • ECS – Electrotechnical Certification Scheme or equivalent
  • Able to work under pressure to tight timescales
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Presentable in appearance when on site
  • Professional demeanour
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong technical learning ability.
  • Full clean UK driving licence
  • Be highly mobile & flexible as a remote engineering covering a wider geographical region
  • Be a natural problem solver able to draw on your own knowledge and skill, whilst knowing your own limits and willing to call on support as necessary to deliver the best fit outcomes for our customers
  • Happy and willing to work alone for long periods
  • Familiar with working in customer environments during their normal operational working, adapting your practices to ensure of the presence of members of the public are taken into consideration and respected

Knowledge of the below is desirable

  • CSCS
  • IPAF
  • PASMA
